You cannot reference the evil JB or DJT as rationale for your choice. We know about the hate for each candidate - we don't need to repeat all that.
Let's hear about the policies, laws, regulations, & culture that will be put forth and promoted under a second JB or DJT administration.
How do you envision the next four years unfolding and how does that affect your choice?
What say you?

Policy wise, the consolation is that my vote will hopefully prevent a federal abortion ban.

Biden's as hostile to globalism as Trump ever was. He's busily dismantling the whole Bretton Woods System that's existed since 1944.
That ship has sailed. It no longer fits America's needs and it's going away regardless of who's president.
I'll give you a huge fer-instance: Biden leaned all over ASML - arguably Europe's biggest and most important company - to stop supplying China with lithography machines for chipmaking. They complied. This is immense because ASML is the world's lithographer, decades ahead of anyone else, and without access to ASML's technology China's chips production took a truly crippling hit...I can't overstate how badly this hurts them.
This process is only going to accelerate. Why in the world would we continue to protect all international trade on our own dime, particularly when our biggest competitor - China - is cheating their a$$es off while trying to push us off the top spot?
We wouldn't. And increasingly, we aren't. There's so many supply-chain considerations we obviously can't just slam the door on Chinese trade all at once, but look at the trends: we traded less with China last year than any year since 2014 and that number is only plummeting like a stone. Last year we did more than $100 billion dollars less trade with China than in 2023.
That industry is flooding back to the US, by the way. We added 468,000 manufacturing jobs last year and we're building factories now at a rate higher than we were during WW2.

So, here's my view...

In terms of size of government, and trade policy, and fiscal stimulus (either by lower taxes or higher spending), I don't think the choices are all that different this year. The choices will use different approaches and support different things. But we will see big spending and we will see trade wars, regardless of who is elected. Both choices will fund our military and keep our Social Security & Medicare mostly untouched. Both will drill for oil & gas in huge quantities.
Where I see a HUGE differences:
1) The US' place in the world: in the choices is the belief in Democracy, the sanctity of elections, the support of Allies, and the belief in the US' role in the world as a force for good in things like climate change & support of alliances, such as NATO.
2) The view on a woman's right to have control of her reproductive rights.
I am voting for the person that believes the US has a strong place in the world with regard to support for Democracy, support for elections, support of Allies, opposition to authoritarianism, and leadership on things like Climate Change. I am also voting for the person that believes all women should have control of their reproductive rights.
I think especially important this year is Democracy vs Authoritarianism. This is issue #1 for me.

Roger that.
I would just like to point out that with bigger government and unsustainable debt, at some point in the next generation or so, it all, and I mean ALL, falls apart. There will be no USA that is a dominant force. There will be no money to spend on climate change. They hay days of the post WW2 USA that provided everything you have ever known in your 95th percentile standard of living will no longer be.

Pretty much the only time a woman is doing that is when her life is in danger.
I know a couple who had to do this. They were very anti-abortion before the pregnancy. If she didn't have the abortion, she and the baby would be dead now.
Do you believe what she did should be outlawed? That she should be forced to die?

A woman who has carried a baby to 9 months, or the times you listed, was planning to carry the child to term. Y'all MUST pump the brakes on this abortion extremism. You quickly rush to third trimester abortions and how horrible they are, but it ignores the fact that a woman who has gone this far has almost always planned to take this child to term and must abort due to medical reasons.
It's horrible and painful and heartbreaking. What they don't need on top of it are Tommy Tubervill-style mouth breathers who have no clue what's going on and see abortion as only a black or white issue.
I hate the idea of abortion as birth control, and I'm not going to go into all the reasons why. But I also know many abortions have to happen and the woman doesn't want to go that route but has no choice.

I agree Cat. As a form of birth control, not a god thing. But, if a woman is considering aborting a pregnancy, she's already facing a decision she regrets. Making it illegal compounds the problem, not solves it.
BTW, I believe this to be a sound bite litmus test for any politician. It's not that simple and not black and white. Abortion was never the law the of land. It was the application of a SCOTUS decision. The repeal of Rove v. Wade was to clarify just who is responsible for making the laws in the US.
I vote for limited government and individual freedom. Which is the one that will grant me both?

If Biden wins, four more years of ineptitude by whoever the hell is running our country. I imagine he steps down and Harris becomes president. She'll be a terrible leader and will probably weaken America on the international scene as China pushes more and more toward taking us out.
If Trump wins, more dismantling of America's unity and democratic institutions. A strong push toward fascism and totalitarianism. He'll abuse the office for vengeance and try to secure him and his family as rulers. Yeah, he will, and yeah, y'all secretly want that to happen.
Thus, I'm not voting for president for the first time in my life. I cannot, in good conscience, vote for either of these men. These are two idiot choices chosen by the imbeciles of America, who have now taken control of our nation. We had a chance to have a sane adult; the primary clowns blew it.
I will vote in the local elections.

protest against the partisanship and rancor that is Politics today. So - I'll be voting against both incumbents in the Presidential election.
The border has been ticking me off since 2020, forgiving student loans really ticks me off (there are other things), but this would tend to make me vote conservative - but I just can't vote that way this year...
3rd Party, I'm afraid.
I'm in NC - and Josh Stein (Dem running for Gov) basically said in an interview that abortion was completely up to the Mom...so he's fine with a 39th week abortion. IF that's the Dems goal for abortion - I can't vote for that...
