Interested to know what accomplished analysts think. It may be too early to tell?

Class of ‘71. Went through “rat season” and glad I did.

If he beats UGA hes got a shot.***

I’d like to see him be FBS playoff material.

No. He's lanky, reactionary (not decisive, big difference), and not exactly NFL quick. You need a really good ability to read defenses quickly, throw people open, and hit very small windows with velocity. He doesn't have a weak arm, but doesn't have a Josh Allen arm. He's not slow, but he isn't quick either. He reacts instead of decides (at this point in his career). He isn't elite with accuracy. Didn't say he isn't accurate, said he's not elite.

All of things combined say no. You need to be exceptional at a few if you're average at the rest, or above average at all of them. He's average at all of them IMO. Still can be a really good college QB, but he does have a ceiling and I really hope I'm dead wrong about all this. But at this point that's where he is. We too often look at potential here instead of actual. Take DJ, Kelly Bryant, Adam Randall, etc. We've been burned granting the next level to guys that never achieved it, Randall still withstanding.

Jesus, he has only had one season behind center, and our offense was as beat up as we've seen in a long time. Give the kid the benefit of doubt with a much healthier offense than he has had a chance to play with until this point in his college career!!!

I think that right out of HS he looked as if he could have been NFL material. But since he has started at Clemson he really hasn't had the players needed to perform the way that he did in HS. Hey, but we should know if he's NFL material after this season if everything he will have coming into this next season holds up.

He will have the TE's, the WR's, a decent back field I'm hoping with Mafah and somebody stepping up, and what should be/hoping for an improved Matt Luke O line. I think our D will hold it's own...

Not as of today so this is a huge year for both Cade and our program.

An NFL QB must have two things: a quick release and accuracy. He possibly can

have both with some work. Letting the game slow down through study and reps could lead to a quicker release. Finding throwing lanes and learning to slide/glide in the pocket will assist with improving accuracy.

Right now, he has neither, but I think he's going to take a big leap forward this year.

Go Tigers!

Let's define an NFL QB? If you consider Dan Orlovski, Mike Glennon or Greg McElroy as NFL QBs simply because they made a roster and played a few seasons....then yes he has a chance. If we are speaking of a 1st round selection who would be starting within the 1st few games of his rookie season like DW4 and TL16...AWWWW NO...not happening....unless he inherits some divine enhancements to his skills by August 31st.....but hey don't be surprised..
.....stranger things have happened.

Nothing we’ve seen so far would indicate next level talent. He does not have the size or arm strength at this point of his career. Maybe he will surprise us and turn a corner which would be great.

But, I think he has the potential

He’s got the arm and the wheels to do it all

He’s a little short and he’s made some mistakes we aren’t used to seeing in qb’s

With improved receivers and a maturing O-line, all the noise will be removed this season and we will see what he’s made of.

I think he rises to the moment and plays his way to “nfl material”

I think his great high school numbers have hurt him at Clemson. He has made many bad decisions on keeping the ball and running, especially in the Red Zone, when he doesn't realize that D-1 isn't high school, everyone is FAST! These decisions hurt him because he obviously doesn't have the speed to outrun DE's and LB's in College.

Yes, he has the intangibles

When he's on, he's a gamer. He's got enough speed to move the chains and above average arm talent to make NFL throws.

However, when it's bad, it's baaaaaaad. As someone else pointed out here, up to this point, he's reactionary. His anticipation isn't great when it comes to throwing guys open vs waiting until he thinks they are open. His decision making tends to leave a lot to be desired.

Right now he's like a poor man's Johnny Football. If the game can slow down more for him and he can get more proactive with decision making without waiting for it to be obvious, he can get us back to the CFP.

Heck, if he were to embrace being a game manager and limiting hero ball we are probably a 10-11 win team this year without him needing to be DW/TL level play.

I posted a little bit one something I read about this. A top school QB with low sack rate and a high average receiving yard stat has a great chance of succeeding in the pro's.
