Leaving the game

Leaving Clemson, soon to head back to Chicago. Exciting game, congrats to your tigers about the win. Unfortunately, a significant portion of your fans don't know how to win and were serious ### holes to me and my friends. I have been following the Irish to away games for over s decade and just had my worst experience. Two different guys got in my face and another screamed as us . Enjoyed the visit and wish your team good luck but your fans need to put some action behind the southern hospitality nonsense they talk about

Grow some balls. Football isn't all rainbows and butterflies. Not sure about some of you, it's called DEATH VALLEY for a reason. Bring your own guts - or stay home. No one should come to our house and walk around like they own the joint. The recent "sportsmanship" push at clemson is really kind of sickening to me. This isn't Better Homes and Gardens. This is Saturday night in the South.
All in.

But, would you like some unsolicited advice from us? I'm going to assume you do since you just gave us unsolicited advice.
Maybe swallow some of that "we are Notre Dame, we're just better than you" pride when coming into someone else's house. If you do that and show your hosts a little more respect you might be treated with more respect too.

But a couple bad fans do not represent the fanbase as a whole. I saw a Notre Dame fan get escorted out by police for taunting Tiger fans and throwing things from the upper deck down to the lower deck. I don't think all Notre Dame fans are like that guy. I for one spoke to every Notre Dame fan I saw kindly before, during, and after the game. If you want to see some real terrible fans go pay a visit to the Bulldogs in Athens, Georgia. Then you might change your mind. Go Tigers

I honestly don't believe that one bit. Visitors always brag on our welcoming to the Valley. I also will say every ND fan I encountered had a stuck up attitude and just talked about how great ND was and that's about it. I gave them a fair chance but this will be my last time welcoming the fighting redheads

Nothing we as whole can do about it. Obviously if you saw 80,000 Clemson fans and can only bring up 2 who got rude then i guess then rest of the 79,998 fans weren't so bad. Sry for your experience, good luck rest of the season

cordial to Notre Dame fans after the game. I went out of my way to several different ND fans to tell them their team played hard and good luck with the rest of their season. It seems you just can't take a loss. Get over it, it's been a long time since Tony Rice and Tim Brown. Your team simply isn't a powerhouse anymore. And your team couldn't even win the game with the refs helping them out the whole night.

Since the days of Frank Howard, the supposed "top teams from the north" have avoided coming down to DV because they knew their record would have a blemish on it. When they finally grow the courage to visit, they expect some sort of "aw-shucks we shore do like havin' yawl brang your yankee money sir" attitude. The truth is we are a powerhouse program that boasts a national title, many conference championships and a history of winning. Not including the ACC (those teams know their place and for the most part understand our passion), most out of conference schools spend too much time listening to ESPN and expect us to be soft. Then we punch them in the mouth. They don't like it, so they resort to the redneck jokes. Unfortunately, that exposes their ignorance because Clemson is a we respected school that produces generation after generation of highly qualified engineers, teachers, soldiers and too many others to list here.
I have been coming to DV as a fan, student or alumni since 1978, and I can count on one hand how many programs showed up and (as a whole) and showed class. I realize everyone, even us, has a small few that should probably stay home, but I'm talking about as a group......Texas A&M were good guests, Missouri, Rice and Boston College (the Flutie era version).
It's okay to hate us, we expect you to, because Clemson is back.

You have a beautiful campus and I have much respect for your history. We went to the bookstore there and my son wore a Notre Dame shirt he got there for years.
That said, when it comes to football, in the words of Taylor Swift, we have bad blood.
What you felt (besides alcohol and relief from being soaked for hours) was the pent up anger from 38 years of having to live with that ### hole legend coach of yours, Dan Devine, giving our crowd the finger after little old Clemson had the audacity to almost beat his team in 1977.
See you up there in 5 years.

Not tolerated at Clemson
Oct 4, 2015, 8:52 AM
|
|
I'm an "old" alumni (55 years young) and one of the things I brag about Clemson on is that it is very rare when a student does anything to disrespect CU, on campus or off, and it carries with them for the rest of their lives. I'm sorry for what happened, but I can safely say that it is indeed a rarity. I've been to other campuses where that behavior is common (and have you been to an NFL game lately?) It's not only uncommon at Clemson, but it's also not tolerated.
Thank you for coming to the game, and safe travels,

The amount of head in the sand responses here is
Oct 4, 2015, 9:57 AM
|

unbelievable. People here complain about how bad fans are at UGA and SCar and think every Clemson fan is perfect, and then when a visitor comes on here and says that's not the case, people here start attacking him (especially Tigerking79). I hate to break it to y'all but every fan base has fans like that, Clemson is no exception. Although most are nice, I have seen some of our fans act like a$$es before. I'm not saying people here should be obligated to say sorry to this guy, but attacking him is uncalled for. Get your head out of the sand.
Also this is not directed to the few of you in this thread that responded appropriately. Rant over, go Tigers!

I have the same reaction to the ND female fan right in front of me. Screamed in our ears entire 4th quarter then when the game was in hand she grabs her kids and says "let's go I don't want to hear the yell". So yeah my experience with ND fans was bad.

Safe travels to you. As for the experience. Your coach, players, and fans gave Clemson no respect. Not our players, our staff, or our traditions. I'm sorry that out of 120,000+ people in Clemson last night that 3 people could define your entire trip. That said. Take your loss, shut your whiney mouth, and have a safe trip home. Good luck the rest of the way.

I would certainly love to hear the other side of this story. This is NOT typical, and I would bet the OP had a little to do with this. Probably told our fans how lucky we were not to be slaughtered by ND at our house. I can picture that. Our fans don't initiate that crap. And if it were only ONE fan, then geez man - there were 80K + fans there and 75K + of them were CLEMSON fans. So you found the ONE fan that would do that???

Have a safe trip home. If any of it is true I apologize but don't even try to vilify a fan base over 3 individuals as you claim. It's a bit shallow! Good luck the rest of the year and here's to having you guys as "full" ACC members very soon!

Sorry you had that experience. The Irish fans sitting next to us in section H were nothing but complimentary of Clemson and the welcome they received. Everyone's experience is different I guess and every fancies has some not so good fans.

Interesting. There were two Notre Dame fans sitting around me, one of which had to have the cops come to settle him down due to wanting to fight and the other yelling obscenities the entire game. So 2/4 total Notre Dame fans I encountered vs 2/85000 Clemson fans being jerks...

That visited our tailgate and we had to ask you stop w the F bombs since we had a child and women present ?? I figured letting you hang out and watch the games on our tv out of the rain would have prompted you to not act like a drunk sailor- which you and your two friends were
And it was 3:30 in the afternoon
You should try AA!
God bless

I honestly had a terrible experience with ND fans downtown and around prior to, during, and after the game. Many of the folks y'all brought down with you were rude, unnecessarily aggressive, and way too drunk compared to everyone else there. Grown men puking in the bushes and I had several try to start fights while I was minding my own business with friends. Sorry you had a poor experience with a couple Clemson fans, but the majority of ND fans I encountered were worse than Gamecock fans - and that's saying something.

I apologize for our fans that got out of line, but quite frankly no one really cares. Nothing personal at all really. It's just when for two straight weeks all we hear is that Clemson won't win, it will drive people a little crazy.

And to follow up to my first comment, I make an effort to welcome opposing fans to town and had much higher expectations for the Notre Dame fanbase, given that Clemson fans went out of their way to welcome y'all to tailgates and bars throughout the week. Heck, I've met fans from a long ways away and taken them hiking because they wanted to see the area. I don't think it's asking too much to expect a little personal respect from y'all when in town.

Notre Dame fans are so arrogant. The need to get over themselves because the rest of college football has.

"...Two different guys got in my face and another screamed as us..."
3/82,000 = .00365%
does NOT equate to "a significant portion of" fan base...
FAIL....

Usually when your team's players talk #### about our guys it flows down hill. If you can't take a few drunk fans acting stupid then maybe you shouldn't go to live games. You are from Chicago and bitching about our fans?

Our fans should not act like that but then again --and this is a fact not an excuse--we really didn't need to hear how great ND was all week, what great O and D lines they had, what a fantastic receiver they had and your dumb ### coach felt--"they've been in this position with loud noise many time before"! Really? Sure the historical ND teams have but not THIS team and it showed. Candidly there were ND fans I saw who talked like nothing but arrogant ND grads! So, if it's too much for you just stay home next time. Your football team talked trash all week especially number 7 who got totally shut down with 3 receptions for 37 or so yards. Your lines were slow and your O line basically holds on every pass protection set. So take your crap and peddle it in Chicago. Personally, I've known several of your grads and found them to be among the most arrogant jack asres I've ever met! BTW, you just were very lucky that none of your players got cheap shotted like your freaking team did to Watson on the very first play directly in front of me after he was 5 yards out of bounds! So take your holier than thou attitude partner and shove it you know where. .

Last night. The few a encountered reminded me of Columbia scum as I heard lots of mouth and a few middle fingers.
Most pampered and catered to football program in the history of college football. Sad that the game shouldn't have even been close.
