There are lots of reasons for this, but it's pretty alarming, especially with medical advancements.

Funny thing is that carbon levels are at an all-time low. A new carbon-eating bacteria have been discovered which have helped reduce the carbon impact. I see the carbon scare the new version of the ozone crisis. Remember that? We were supposed to lose it by 2003. It repaired itself. Democrats love to use scare tactics to raise money. As a libertarian and scientist, I have a hard time with their “scientific claims.” When the carbon emergency loses its steam, they will move on to the next crisis to drain donations.

It's not that people are naturally dying earlier, it's that unnatural things like drug ODs and lab created viruses are killing younger people skewing the total average. Thanks to modern medicine normal healthy people are making well into their 90s.
The fentanyl problem in this country is waaaay worse than it seems and this has been building for decades going back to the 90s and the beginning of the opioid crisis.

with our “modern lifestyle.” Highly processed food devoid of nutrients, low fruit and vegetable diet, sedentary lifestyles, and a number of things people don’t think of like extreme magnetic pollution (cell towers/phones and communication, sleeping in Wi-Fi, etc.) = loss of benefits of earth’s natural Schuman Resonance. Our bodies were designed (evolved - take your pick) to function at earth’s natural frequency (Schuman Resonance) and we have polluted the hey-y’all out of that. This is proven to cause breakdown of cells and DNA, and all sorts of health problems follow. No, AT&T and Verizon aren’t going to tell you about this - wonder why? it’s tinfoil hat stuff…right? 😉. We are such sheep.

Could be them trying to reduce carbon emissions (i.e. YOU) for their bogus Global Warming agenda or their death vaccines bumping up the time frame for many.
Doctors have zero interest in your health they are just doing what they are told by big pharma.
Check out how Dana White got crazy healthy after years of getting worse with conventional doctors.
And that poster is actually onto something with the schuaman resonence. Earthing or grounding is the best way to heal any and all human ailments. Watch the documentary and try it when you sleep. Best sleep you will ever have.

You’re mixing topics, CO2 isn’t disrupting the ozone layer. The ozone depletion was caused mostly by aerosol CFCs which have subsequently been banned between the late 70s and mid 90s. Had nothing been done we would have had gaping holes in it by now. As it stands today the damage to the ozone layer is on track to repair itself thanks to these bans by 2040 in most of the global habitat regions, and a little later at the poles

Old saying you are what you eat is true. I think the increase in many sports injuries might reflect poor nutrition in childhood. Most young people don’t even drink milk.

It’s pretty fascinating the symbiosis between us and the bacterial ecosystem in our bodies.
Many autoimmune diseases are thought to be a result of an unhealthy gut biome.

Food quality has decreased, with many people relying on highly processed foods for the bulk of their nutrition. I also have a huge issue with the stuff that our government in the U.S. allows to be in our food. There hasn’t been nearly enough testing on many of the additives and preservatives that are commonplace today. Humans are the guinea pigs.
Plus, as caloric load has gone up and nutrient density has gone down, physical activity has gone down too. It’s no wonder there are so many overweight and obese people today.
As we know, a host of problems go along with excess weight, including increased risk of many chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.

I spent my entire career in the food and dairy industry. The “stuff that our government in the U.S. allows to be in our food” isn’t the problem. There are plenty of high quality, wholesome food products available. The fact that many people choose to eat poorly is a symptom of the loss of personal responsibility in society today. This and the lack of physical activity (another choice) are the biggest problems. And don’t even try to tell me people cannot afford wholesome foods and are being forced to eat the highly processed, less nutritious junk. That is simply an excuse to justify personal behavior. Making excuses like blaming the government and the food industry for what’s really a lack of personal responsibility is enabling the behavior.
You are right that it shouldn’t be happening, but it all comes back to individual choice and personal responsibility.

My wife has shifted our food purchases to mainly organic and/or natural, and it is significantly more expensive- and takes a lot more time to prepare. Many people can’t afford to do this. And yes, they chose not to as well.

Look closely at the differences in organic and conventional products. Don’t just read what the food bloggers on the internet have to say. I can tell you with complete certainty that the differences in nutritional and chemical composition between organic and conventional milk are practically nonexistent but you will pay 2-3 times more for organic. Same with most fresh products. “Organic” is one of the most successful but empty marketing claims of our time. And “natural” is a highly controversial and misused claim for food products. Again, your choice. I don’t try to tell anyone what they should eat or drink. But I do have years of experience in the industry. Fresh is best is a good rule of thumb but many processed foods are fine if they don’t have a lot of other stuff added.

My nephew and his wife visited us a few years ago and she immediately went to the store and bought organic milk for their boys. I had a long discussion with her about organic and conventional milk. I reminded her that I worked in plants that processed both for many years. My nephew walked by and said, “hey, you trying to save me some money?” Her biggest justification was to “avoid the antibiotics and hormones in regular milk”. I explained that having antibiotic residues in milk is actually illegal and that growth hormones haven’t been given to dairy cows milked for conventional dairy products for probably 20-25 years. She seemed happy and said she would like for me to talk to a group of her friends. Then she went home and just kept buying the organic product at about 3 times the cost of conventional milk. Turns out it was peer pressure from a bunch of internet “educated” soccer moms that motivated her to keep buying it.

Agree. Organic is a rip off. I never fell for it as I grew a lot of my own food and it took only a small amt of fertilizer to grow it. I had really good soil mixture. The organic scam started with a very small number of items and now everything is in a choice called organic.

Help us
Define other stuff
Today one problem is the abundance of and accessibility to information and misinformation.
Said in a way to symbolize the always evolving ambiguity and clarity challenges...
It ain't easy sifting through the stuff to find the good stuff vs the bad stuff that should or should not be in the stuff we should be getting vs the stuff we should be avoiding.
Misinformation about science, government influence, health, and diets runs rampant.

I agree. IMO other stuff is anything that isn’t the main product, especially if it is artificial like artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners. There are some natural ingredients that act as preservatives and I don’t see an issue with those. One general rule of thumb I follow is the shorter the ingredient list the better for most things. Another is if you can’t pronounce it, it probably isn’t natural.

I have always wondered about "Organic" foods. Does that mean that foods that are not listed as "Organic" are "Inorganic"?
Websters Dictionary defines Inorganic as "not consisting of or deriving of living matter".

Organic doesn’t refer to the food itself, but how it was produced and processed. On the production side organic means the food was produced using only approved fertilizers and feeds. On the processing side it means the product is kept segregated from non-organic product and only approved cleaning and sanitizing products are used to clean the equipment it is processed on. Opinions vary widely on what if any impact this has on the product. I can say with 100% certainty the nutritional and chemical makeup of organic milk is the same as conventional milk. There can be slight chemical differences in milk which come from what the cow eats (grass vs grain and things like that) but those variations happen regardless of whether the feed was organic or not.

But the average person doesn’t know that the red dye number 3 in their food might increase their risk of cancer. They don’t know that it has already been banned in other counties.
There are many more examples of this.

WhoTF would consume enough red die of any number to get cancer? Take the simple route by eliminating anything with high fructose corn syrup or hidden sugar. Stay away from prepared foods. It’s not hard

What a crock of sh*t, if something synthetic has adverse impacts on health that goes into food it should be banned. The only reason this crap is allowed in our foods is because industry lobby groups make it happen so they can keep their profits up. Travel overseas and you’ll be shocked how much crap is banned for health reasons that is part of everyday life over here.
Cheap, unhealthy food is easier to find, and it’s more expensive and difficult to eat healthy. On top of that nutrition education is woefully inadequate at giving people the tools they need to make the right choices. Unchecked marketing bullsh*t tricks people into thinking they’re making a healthy choice when really they’ve just added some nonsense buzzword to a label on a box full of junk to make it seem healthy

This is a big problem. And it is easy to see just by reading the labels of foods sold in the US, but made in Europe. The crap ingredients in foods made here, are not in there.

The European Union does a much, much, better job with food regulation. Our government is failing us.
Still, I agree choices are also a big part of the problem, false or misleading marketing is another.

I would certainly be worried if I relied on the government to keep me safe, food wise or most any other way.
Unfortunately, false and misleading marketing is a product of the same capitalism that you mentioned in another thread. Educating yourself to be able to see through the marketing is the personal responsibility of each of us. It’s really not that hard to do if it is important to someone.
Blaming the food industry for the bad choices and habits of their customers is kind of like blaming Remington for the actions of a mass shooter. It’s an excuse that enables poor behavior.

And the FDA is another US government agency that has become too big and dysfunctional to do much of anything good for anyone. At least as far as the food industry is concerned.

I started going to the gym, but kept eating pretty much the same, and only lost about 5 lbs. My diet was better than many...I ate a pretty good mix of meats and vegetables, but I did eat too many sweets and would snack too often.
So, I eliminated sugar, starchy carbs and the snacking, went more heavy on the fatty meats like ribs, chicken wings and hamburger (no bread), and lost 35 lbs in two and a half months, and have maintained it for seven months now!
Folks, it's not hard! But we have to get out of the mindset that fat makes you fat! Processed sugar and starchy carbs are what make you get fat!
There are many ways you can lose weight, but to do it without feeling hungry all the time, plenty of meat and low carbs is the way to go!

Good for you. I agree that sugar and carbs are much worse than naturally occurring fat. I actually got my wife to switch back to whole milk from the 2% she had been buying since the kids were little. We greatly reduced carbs, including sugar quite a while back and that, coupled with an increase in activity have helped me drop about 20 pounds from where I was most of my adult life. I used to eat most, if not all of a box of Kraft Mac and cheese at one sitting. Can’t tell you the last time we cooked Mac and cheese at home. I allow myself a small snack most nights but many times that snack is cashews or popcorn. We reduced the amount of sugar in the sweet tea. I’m not giving up sweet tea unless/until I absolutely have to but it’s not nearly as sweet as what Mama made. I love bread but really limit how much of that I eat too. Wraps instead of sandwiches with white bread. I do still have the occasional fried egg, ham and cheese sandwich but the key word is occasional. Same with mater sammiches and BLTs in the summer. Lots of times we have BLT salads instead of sandwiches.
It really isn’t that hard if you have the self discipline to make food choices. IMO the key, as with most things, is moderation.

Poor diet, lack of exercise, drug use and our healthcare system focuses on treating illness instead of preventing illness. Our society as a whole has grown soft and doughy as we do what feels good now instead of focusing on long term impact

Anyone watched the Netflix docuseries “You are what you eat?” They take sets of twins and control the diets for each with one of each twin on a plant based diet and the other on a diet with meat. Interesting study.

Rhettfla - I don’t doubt that point at all. Def a politically slanted show just from those interviewed in the brief part I’ve watched. However, I think the idea has merit and definitely think our diets hugely influence our life expectancy and quality of life.
Another interesting read is about Dana White’s (UFC) transformation . Very interesting take. Listen to the Joe Rogan podcast with Gary Brecka on that. Interesting commentary on impacting one’s life expectancy.

Thanks for the recommendations but I don’t listen to podcasts, read blogs or internet influencers, or listen to talk radio. I tend to research subjects of interest as needed. I spent a lifetime in the food industry and my food choices come from that experience. Now I will spend a bunch of time researching new recipes to try if you know any good sources there.

I do agree that our diets have a huge influence on our health and quality of life. I just get tired of the vegan approach of trying to tell me what my food choices should be. I don’t care what anyone else eats. I just ask others that respect my choices the same way.

The Covid impact of 2020 and 2021 skewed the numbers. However, I agree totally that obesity is the number one issue with health in the US. Sadly, I don’t see us changing the trend. It’s just too easy and inexpensive to eat Big Macs versus preparing a balanced meal.
Side note: this trend is very visible in France as well. Retired now, but I went there very regularly between 1974 and 2016 and the growth of the French waste line has been significant. Not coincidental I’m sure, is the popularity and availability of fast food.

"Take the shots" they said. "They are safe & effective" they said. Unexplained deaths worldwide are through the roof for every statistical category except the Liberal Elites, who seem to be immune and will live forever. Maybe they didn't take the shots? Who knows?

Yeah, it was the COVID protocols (Remdesivir, ventilators, etc.), not COVID itself, that was fatal for many people. And when medical professionals started sounding the dangers about these protocols and proposing better ones, they were censored. Truly sad.

Here is an easy way to determine if you are at risk. Lay flat down with your back on the floor. If you can’t get up to a standing position without your hands/arms touching the floor you are in the at-risk population

Yeah, the vaccines and the boosters sure aren’t helping. More people, especially young adults, are dying prematurely because of the heart issues associated with these dangerous cocktails; not to mention the increases in Bell’s Palsy. What a mess.

disease, mexican super meth, human detritus: cartel skinners, feral humans, Islamic terrorists posing as refugees and the other miscellanous dregs the Mexican govt dumps at our southern border. This disease ridden, violent criminal element has no interest in assimilation but that's OK the US tax payer has got food, shelter, medical insurance, and a cash card to keep them going while they rape, rob, & pillage on US soil. The daily absurdities that occur daily without fail on our southern border also serve to perpetually balloon the welfare state. The legislative & executive branches have been 'poisoning the well' of it's electorate for the last 25 years(conservative est). Well one man tried to legitimately do something about it but he said "darn" on Twitter and that sent the brainless sheep into a tizzy and 2000 mules later he was replaced by an embecilic pedophile—

Pfizer just recently invested 43 Billion Dollars into fighting the "Turbo Cancer" they are expecting.
This is what THEY know vs what WE know.
You'd almost suspect it has something to do with the Covid Vaccine.
But hey, I always trust the Medical-Industrial Complex.

There are lots of reasons for this, but it's pretty alarming, especially with medical advancements.
Good discussion but what exactly is your source for life expectancy in the US? The expectation is the life expectancy will decrease over tHe next 25 years but 2024 is higher than all previous years in this decade. See the chart.
