Adams might be pretty decent. Jay Haynes showed a little flash. We have Jarvis and Ezi that we don't know anything about.
I sure wish D Thomas would have stayed the course. That guys story is one to pull for but besides that, he had some good runs when he touched the ball.
What about Streko, the transfer from Navy that Dabo promised would help our team in the upcoming seasons. Dabo was high on him during the Spring game.

Streko is not a transfer. He was once committed to Air Force, but never enrolled anywhere before Clemson. He is a walk-on.

Right! I knew when I typed that it didn't sound right but he was committed. I am surprised he wasn't used on kickoffs or special teams instead of wasting STs on Hanafin but maybe we couldn't offer a scholly so Dabo didn't play him. From all the previous info on Streko, sounded like he was pretty dynamic smaller guy.

You don't have to be on scholarship to play.
I would guess he needed some development and still does. It's not really surprising that a freshman walk-on didn't get playing time.

My point was we wasted a RS year for Hanafin just to play STs. Why not use a walk-on for STs so you don't waste a year on scholly guy. But then I was suggesting that if a walk-on was used in that capacity then maybe Dabo feels like they should earn a scholly and we probably didn't have one to offer. I was making assumptions, probably not clearly but that is where my point was headed.

I think it’ll be a fight between Jarvis Greene and Jay Haynes. Both guys are athletic and explosive. Will be a great 1-2 punch with Mafah whenever one of them separates. Or maybe both guys end up contributing and the number 2 reps are RB by committee.

Mafah proved he's an every down back. He will warn his NFL payday next year. There won't be much room for carries behind him anyway. Look at the ND game. He can handle 30 carries. He has the body and the power.

He needs to work on ball security. It’s a liability.

Mmmm...the ball security issue just declared for the NFL.
I didn't see Mafah cough it up inside the 20 a gazillion times. I saw him take it over the line for 6

Official stats show Shipley and Mafah with 3 fumbles each, 6 total. That is a horrid stat

Yeah but who's fumbles were more costly.
Mafah never fumbled when it mattered. Ship coughed it up on the goal line every single time.

I certainly don’t subscribe to your theory about some fumbles not being important.

Mafah fumbled while trying to run the clock out against ND. Doesn’t matter now but was huge at the time. It happens. Will be interesting to see how mafah does with a full time starter roll for a full season. Right now he’s at 345 career carries, will probably get 250-300 next year alone.

I agree, we have a 3rd down back in Mafah and no one else with any significant playing time behind him. Need a speedster to come in.

Thanks for the link. I guess I’m more interested in who else will be good. One guy on the debt chart is not quick enough. The others I don’t know anything about.

Spell check actually may be on to something with the debt chart as opposed to the depth chart. Thank you NIL

I'm somewhere between curious and excited about the RB depth next season. The guys behind Mafah look different. They are more twitchy than Ship and Mafah. I don't know how close to ETN they are from a pure speed and explosiveness perspective. That 1st to 2nd to 3rd gear transition ETN has is second to none. His top speed was solid but his ability to get to that top speed so quickly is what really set him apart. If there is a guy on the roster that is even 80% of what ETN is, that will be a difference maker.

RB2, won't be surprised to see a "by committee" approach with EZ, Green, Haynes, & Adams. Spring ball will be huge in determining who can set themselves apart among that group of guys, especially as a receiving threat (where Ship had an edge over Mafah, IMO).
I could see EZ, Green, & Haynes also being in mix for return positions. Remember seeing Adams as a FB on 1 of Mafah's TDs in Gator Bowl, so I wonder if the staff might try to bulk him up a little to be a blocking/short yardage back.

Sad to see Shipley go, but he had lost #1 role to Mafah - I don’t see much of an NFL future for him. Loved his fire. I think we are pretty solid behind him. Speed, toughness is there.
