Daughter’s swim meet….

… in Charleston this morning for my 13 yr old’s swim meet. She swims for the MUDCATS. Hate we won’t be in the valley today but being here always puts it all in perspective. There’s no one I’ll be pulling for today more than my girl. I asked myself, if she wins and the tigers lose, which result would I spend the most energy on. I have that choice. And I choose her. Im making my goal to always care more about the things that are constant. Things that matter…and less about things that are temporal and fleeting. ain’t easy. But as I age I realize more and more to let go of the things I can’t control. Go Tigers… and GO MUDCATS!!!!

You are making the right choice. The Tigers will get over your not being there in person, but a 13-year-old girl could honestly maintain hurt feelings for decades. We were at a HS swim meet during Chase Brice's comeback victory over 'Cuse. I can't speak for the other schools, but our school had probably 35 of the 50 parents standing around the 30-ish inch TV in the lobby the last two minutes of that game. I hope the parents of the relay swimmers stayed in the pool area watching their teens, but thankfully mine was through at that point.

I agree... I was at my son's tennis tournament last weekend. You must set your priorities in life. Today my wife and I are driving to Ashville for a wedding. Go Tigers!!! Beat Miami!!!

My son is twice her age and those days seem like yesterday, when he was playing little league baseball. Those are great memories when they are competing, part of a team, frustrated with their failures and excited with their accomplishments, growing and learning. Hope you and your girl have a great day. Go Tigers!

Painful choice though

Totally worth it but swim meets are brutal . . . I swam growing up and coached year round for a decade. The meets are punishing. Way more fun to go to a football game

Amen to that. These meets are not for the faint of heart. Long day with a lot of nothing in between short bursts of cheering.

North Charleston Aquatic Center?

That’s where all the meets in the lowcountry are now. Any place i ever went I’d always get itchy eyes and stopped up nose and half the time I’d end up sick because of all the people crammed in and the bad air quality . . . Coaching at the meets puts you on that deck for 12 hrs a day sometimes and you have kids coming up to you nonstop. Hoping my boys are good at baseball or basketball or something

That’s where we are NCAC. Nice facility. Wish they had recliners instead of bleachers. ?

Swimmers are great kids to take to Disney - they are used to spending 90 minutes waiting between 2 minute bursts of fun.

of swim meets from around 2000 to 2014 (8&u through college). I would usually volunteer to be a timer to avoid hours of sitting on the metal bleachers.
If lucky, Clemson would have a noon or 3:30 game and you could catch some in the break in between prelims and finals when the parents would visit a local watering hole. You could catch the end of night games.
