Sorry, but that is the only thing I can think of to make this post not on the rong bored.
Death Valley, the one in California, is about to get a decade's worth of rain in 24 hours. Hillary is heading right toward it.
I was there on vacation a few years ago. Spent 3 full days there. Surprisingly had a great time. It is a very interesting park.

The Weather Channel is acting like this is some earth shattering storm. We have category 4 hurricanes and California gets more coverage than us. California will have problems but not the wind and tornado damage we have.

Local flash flooding

Here is a quote from the Death Valley NP website.
********* Flash flooding today (Sunday, 8/20) Alert 1, Severity danger, Flash flooding today (Sunday, 8/20) As of 8:42 am, water is already flowing across roads in the park. It will get worse, and roads will be impassable. Emergency services probably won't be able to respond. The park is likely to lose power, communications, and potable water. ++++++++
That will occur throughout the desert area of SoCal. That will be the extent of the problem. Don't go hiking in canyons. Don't drive across roads with water on them. Etc.
I was just interested because when we went there we actually got a slight sprinkle one day. I think the Valley portion of the park gets about 2 inches of rain a year. But, it is surrounded on 3 sides by mountains, so it doesn't take much for a flash flood to occur.

To be fair, we whine like a bunch of sissies when we get 3 - 5 inches of snow in the South.
The really interesting thing, though, will be to watch the desert explode into life and fauna that you only see after a storm like this. Wish I could see it in person

Already 1.5” of rain in Death Valley so far. We drove from LA to San Diego early this morning to avoid the brunt of the storm. So far moderate rain and wind with gusts starting to pick up a little but nothing compared to what I have experienced in SC or Boston. It is still early, though. Of course my first ever visit to SoCal would be the first tropical storm warning in 84 years for California. Nuts.

Yep, bad timing on either your part OR Hillary’s! LOL.
You sporting a PAW or Clemson on your rental vehicle, as I did twice while in state?

I personally don't travel much any more Light, but when I did, wherever I went no one had to guess who my college team was. I had the C L E M S O N decal on my rear window with Tiger Paws, and I had a couple medium size magnet Paw's on each front door with Paw headrest covers stretched over my headrest.

Had always heard of the Devils Hole in Death Valley. Was in a rental so decided to find it. The closest place with humans to it was a brothel. One of the ugliest wimmins in the world started her sales pitch with my wife sitting beside me. I said whoa, honey and she said sorry and told us how to get there. Big letdown to see such a tiny hole beside a rock, plenty of water in it though.

3 days? Wow. I drove in and out long enough to get a rock.
