Common opponent Boise State.. We played them once and won..
They took one of three games but the most recent game was a New Mexico win..
Led by Rick Pitino’s son..Richard..
Both House and Mashburn were 4 star players coming out of HS….
Yes …it’s Jamal Maahburn jr…and yes his dad is that Jamal Mashburn..
They finished the season hot…winning their conference tournament..
They will not be an easy out…

I’m guessing Clark will be tasked to shut down House ..
If House gets hot …he will be a problem..

The Hunter brothers, Girard, Beadle- they'll be tasked with guarding House

Not only is Jamal Mashburn Jr. a son of a legendary college player but, Jaelen House (New Mexico's best player) is is the son of Eddie House- and hes just as cluth as his dad. Also interesting that sons Mashburn and Pitino show up 30 years later in the tournament together. Have to admit that's cool stuff.
New Mexico is going to be an interesting matchup, they'll often being playing a smaller three guard lineup but, have two interior players well adept at rebounding the ball and should provide a real fight for Clemson in the paint.
It will be interesting how Brownell chooses to line up. He usually tries to match up with the other team as opposed to forcing the other team adapt to his players which means, we could end up seeing plenty of Dillon Hunter for defensive purposes and a little more Beadle. Clark has been defensively solid but it's hard to imagine a 6-10 guy trying to guard a 6-1 wing. I'm just spitballing here, we'll see what happens.
A note of interest: New Mexico's seeding suggests that were probably going to be left out if they didn't win their tournament.
Here's a little bballnet.com snapshot of New Mexico: https://bballnet.com/teams/new-mexico

They trounced us despite ending the season with losing record and sub .500 RPI. That was one the games that insured we were out of the tourney that season despite the usually statistical gaslighting that Judge Keller loves to throw around this board. Obviously became moot when tourney was cancelled.

I watched them Friday night and their guards are very good....we will have to be much better defensively.

Hopefully brownL gets shown the door after this tournament it’s time. We could go get Ohio states old coach.

You mean Thad Motta who is now at Butler and torching the Big East.
2022–23 Butler 14–18 9th in Big East 2023–24 Butler 18–14 8th in Big East
Wow, he could probably get us 4 or 5 ACC titles lickety split.

Thad Motta and Chris Holtmann are better coaches than Brownell

Didn't Holtman already take the DePaul position?

Not sure. The poster just mentioned Motta but technically Holtmann would be the last Ohio State coach.

I’m sure his pregame speech will be as inspiring as drying paint. He should hire someone to do it.

If we show up like we did against Boston College we’ll lose…
BTW- ESPN projects our ceiling at the round of 32…
I hope we go further - we’ll see…

its a little too late now probably but at some point we've got to guard the 3 pt

line. One thing i noticed about other teams is they guard up on the 3pt shot and don't allow an easy shot at the line. We play back and guard against the drive thus leaving the other team open 3pt shots. I think this is the main reason why we've had players from several teams have their career games against us.
The tourney will be full of teams that shoot the 3 well. If we continue giving the opposition 5 feet of breathing room on the 3 pt line we'll be making an early exit.

Nobody is EVER an easy out for Clemson basketball in postseason. That is one

thing that Brad Brownell DOES have in common with his predecessors, struggling in postseason games.
