Can Clemson finish in the top 12 next year without signing any significant players from the portal?

I still don’t understand why we aren’t using every option at our disposal to improve the team. It’s maddening.

None of us know what is happening behind the scenes. Dabo is not like Smiley Beamer who cheerleads every time he gets a portal commit even though it may be someone from S.C. State.

Judge we have offered multiple and not one chose Clemson. We have good talent leaving for the likes of Florida AM and Georgia State. The "college" landscape is shat in a hand bag. Would you like us to go all Beamer and offer all 3000 kids in the portal and see what sticks. Just be thankful you and you husband Brownell are making good use of the portal, congrats.

I suspect not tampering in the portal with offers of big cash coupled with transfer players who do visit with promises of instant starter status is putting a damper on signing these guys.

So, do we not want Clemson to offer money then?

Do you think other schools are flat out offering money, while Clemson is not?
and said without saying, UGA identifies the positions and specific players on other college teams they need to succeed in the next season and basically go out and get them. There's always a high school teammate, friend, coach, family relation, etc. who can serve as a point of contact/go-between.
By the time the school meets the player in person, during NCAA approved time frames, the school knows what the player wants and the terms only have to be fine tuned.

It is pretty simple. Coach Swinney doesn't have the scholarships available. If we recruit a full class, filling all the scholarships available, then who do you kick out the door? Does his word mean so little? He makes a promise to them and he is a man of his word. I know that is rare in these times, but at the end of the day Coach Swinney has integrity beyond the pale. Wish the world was more like him in that way!

I assume we drop the opener to Georgia because we just aren't as talented as they are.
I think we'd have to finish 10-1 to have a chance at the playoffs. Can't see us finishing in the top 12 with 3 losses.
App State Citadel Louisville NC State Stanford Virginia South Carolina
@ Florida State @ Pittsburg @ Virginia Tech @ Wake Forest
That schedule is not that difficult, so I can see 10-1 as a real possibility. Just need Cade to take a massive leap forward and for the defense to not regress too much.

I think we get the O-lineman from UT. With the late additions of Mason Wade and Elyjah Thurmon we should be done there. We played more freshmen than anyone in the country this year and that has been a deterrent to players seeking immediate playing time.

I think the expansion into the 12 team playoff (and even considering Dabo’s comments a couple of years ago about staying in the ACC) has been the basis of why he thought his culture could win out. With the expansion and playing in the ACC, Dabo thought he would be able to keep Clemson relevant in the top 12 conversation with his model. But the landscape has changed more rapidly as we know. So it appears that we are now slowly coming around to the idea. But the bottom line is Clemson cannot compete NIL wise for these top of the line transfer kids who are looking to see who will bid for their services. So it will still be a difficult journey.

We don't have a great signing class coming in, unless new players will sign Wednesday, and we are losing a bunch of talent. Nobody knows what will happen by next September but it will be really tough to be in the Top 12.

The coots have no recruiting class class coming in unless you found SC State transfers.

The class is pretty good. Just wish we could have hit on our top OL targets and signed a QB.
