Sometimes a pitcher just has one of those games. Tip your cap and go take the next two. Go Tigers!

True, but he didn't just have that type of game. He's just that good. Probably top pick. Definitely top 5. He'd have today 9 out of 10 times we'd face him.

We're getting there, just missing a few pieces. I'd say we're closer to 2014 football team. We were probably going to be 2015 football team if we had Samol and Casey. If we had a more developed Taylor and ciufo hadn't got hurt.

We're just young. Bakich will get us there. Maybe with some luck we'll get to Omaha. Good pitching trumps good hitting. We have a misleading runs per game stat but our overall batting avg and hitting isn't eyebrows raising. Not like the sec top teams. Bakich will get the pieces.

Ok, jump on me for this post, but where is Clemson’s hitting coach? Tonight they were swinging at pitches they couldn’t have hit with a telephone pole, and taking pitches that were right in the umpire’s strike zone. Plus the fact that Purify has become a sure out. As was noted tonight, he hasn’t had a hit since the Louisville series. I know he’s an excellent fielder, but he’s also a hitting liability. It looks like we’re just looking to hit homers and tonight the WF pitching was having none of that. I just don’t see in-game corrections being made, much less preparation before the games. Come on Tigers. Tonight we squandered a very good pitching performance by consistently leaving runners in scoring positions. We’re now 0 for 4 against Wake since last year’s sweep at home. Go Tigers.

Most of my response is what I just posted. We're young. Yes, our hitting approach could have been better but we didn't leave many risp. We didn't have but one inning.

The kids a major league pitcher now. But we struggle with good seasoned pitching. Not much in game adjustments could be made. We weren't very patient. Look at Cams last AB. He knew it. Bakich talks alot about heart rate.

We're just missing a few pieces. As for purify, completely disagree. He's a leader and we need him playing. Many would say crieghton is a liability, yet he was our only player that didn't have a K

Chase Burns (and pitchers like hime) are the point Ive been making.

Elite pitching shuts down elite hitting. Chase had a 0.50 era last season and 2.85 era this season. He shut us down. I expect to see the same happen in the super regional or CWS. I expect it in the CWS for sure. We will see more era’s closer to one and runs will be few and far between. We lack the 1.50 era ace, middle reliever, and shut down closer to win a 1-0 ballgame. I’m not sayin we can’t go deep. I’m just saying we have a Sisyphus type battle ahead of us in the post season.

I understand the power of having an elite pitcher. There are also elite hitters, and they don't consistently chase pitches that are way out of the strike zone. Remember the old saying, "Fool me once, shame on you; shame me twice, shame on me." We're having too many "shame me twice (or three times) trips to the plate. We may be young, though not everyone meets that criteria, but we can do better, with good coaching. Otherwise, there's no need to play the game. Our football team is, from what I've read, a 14-plus underdog to UGA. Do you think Dabo is just going to have the team throw their helmets on the field and move on to a lesser opponent? Not a chance. He'll make sure the FB team is coached up. Are our batters getting that same kind of help? To the unqualified observer (me) it doesn't look like it. Maybe they are and it isn't taking (You can drive a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.) As for Purify, I'm sure he is not happy with his hitting either. At some point it becomes mental. Is he getting the help he needs to get out of his slump? If so, it isn't working. Maybe he needs to work on his bunting. He needs some successes Whatever, Go Tigers.

Wake had something working for them that no other team had going for them this season. I wonder what that might be, it sure looked exactly like Wake batters knew what pitch was coming next bc throughout this entire series their bats were hotter than they've been all season!!!!
