So as the title says what’s your fav campus memory that doesn’t involve sports? What stands out in your mind?

Mostly just my four years of being on campus and earning an engineering degree.
Fond memories even though it was hard work and took some summer sessions to finish in four years.

I was in Byrnes at the time and we were using water balloon launchers to send snowballs through open windows. Fun stuff.

Were you at the one when the skydiver’s chute didn’t open? Maybe 1980? I swear we thought we had just seen someone die then we found out he managed to land in about 4 ft of water and just broke his ankle.

If I remember right, it was the 1980-81 Bengal ball where the bathrooms flooded, and guys and girls were peeing wherever they could. I remember peeing next to a girl peeing and having a conversation during the process. I think Pure Prairie League played on the barge that year. They all kind of run together.

Ok Pig® - here’s another one. Were you at Schilletter the night someone threw a mannequin off the top on Manning Hall just before before midnight breakfast started during finals week? That would have been 1981-82 or 1982-83 school year.

Since I lived in Johnstone F-5 Annex, I was probably eating midnight pancakes and strawberries at Harcombe. I do remember hearing about it though.

I remember my mom found my t-shirt in the laundry I brought home one weekend that said "Bengal Ball Your Brains Out." Mama did not approve. lol
Remember strawberries over pancakes at midnight in Harcombe during finals.
Also appreciated we had an actual bar in the dorm - Edgars in Johnstone. You could go have some beer and bowl without ever leaving your dorm. Pretty sweet.

Even though I was I was in middle school and high school at Edwards and Daniel, I read and heard about that stuff in the Greenville News and the TV news. We went down and skated on the ice in our sneakers and played in the icy snow and remember as an impressionable teenager what a bunch of babes there was walking around campus.

Going downtown and hitting the bars especially TTT...but then again, I don't remember much.
But for some of you young uns you probably didn't get to experience that side of Clemson as the drinking age was raise while I was at Clemson from 18 to 21 (in 1984) but I was grandfathered in my last year.

Not a sport at Clemson was boxing. John Walls from Spartanburg already had some pro fights and was a student. He trained in the tin can store room. I was the guy he hit in training. I was always bruised up a lot, but he taught me a lot.

Bengal Ball was already noted but this generation could not have imagined it. Also, roller coaster Thursdays at TTT with pitchers bottoming out at $0.25. Finally meeting my wife wearing some killer dolphin shorts on Earle St…..no pics. Okay - awful waffle, steak night in harcombe, the Gameroom, kegs on D3, night hikes at whitewater falls…….

scheduled back in the 72-76 years when I was attending Clemson, was scheduled on the weekend between the first and second exam week. Just the time when I KNEW I had better be in my dorm room cramming my ar$e off if I wanted to pass and REMAIN at Clemson. So, I could never rationalize attending any of them.
But, a minor concert, held at Harcombe Commons, instead of Littlejohn, at a different time on the schedule, almost made up for some of that. For those who lived it, I am of course talking about Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids. You could call them Sha Na Na wannabes, or whatever else. All I know, is they ROCKED Harcombe that night. They put on an absolutely GREAT Fifties "Greaser Band" show. Drummer playing Wipeout on a full beer can, and then spraying it on the unsuspecting audience.
It didn't make up for missing Fleetwood Mac, the Doobie Brothers, Marshall Tucker Band, or a host of others. But, it was a great night.

Climbing in the window for the Jimmy Buffet concert in Tillman Hall in 1977. The place was packed so my buddy and I (and several others) climbed in through an open window and sat on the floor right in front of the stage. We almost fell on the drummer as we climbed in. People were brazenly smoking pot and no one bothered them at all which seemed odd to me because I attended a couple of concerts in Littlejohn and if anyone lit anything they were ushered out by the fire department. You couldn’t burn Littlejohn if you tried but Tillman Hall would have gone up like a tinder box. At one point during the show Buffet said, “I’m gonna teach you people about amphetamines!” Then he waited a few seconds and then said, “Oh- it looks like most of you already know!”

How I remember my favorite campus memories are beyond me.

I remember being drunk as a skunk at Sloan Street Tavern with friends. We were watching Hurricane Hugo updates and landfall at Sloan Street Tavern. At one point we decided to run across the street, locked hand-in-hand in the pouring rain, to TTT for further updates.
In a similar state, after a homecoming football game, I remember watching a Beach Boys and Chicago concert at Doug Kingsmore Stadium from the soccer practice field embankment. I remember the Beach Boys but Chicago, not so much.
While not inebriated, I remember "tailgating" at Lowry Hall before the Rolling Stones concert in Death Valley and joining the masses within for a memorable concert. The traffic after the concert was atrocious!
