There is nothing wrong in Clemson

BV leaves for a top 10 job, so there must be something wrong?
DRad wanted to be ACC Comish, didn't get it, so he leaves for his roots and a +300% pay increase, so there must be something wrong? His replacement will be the guy groomed for it in Neff.
TE likely finally taking the head job he's earned, so something must be wrong?
And I'm so sick of hearing how this team didnt give effort. The offense was extremely inexperienced to begin the year and then a mountain of injuries hit. The QB struggled. But they closed strong and we won the last 5. You don't do that lacking effort. QB gets fixed and the offense is back to humming.
This team fought tooth and nails all year. They never gave up. If you can't see that you live in a dark place.
So it's on to the next chapter. Personally, I'm excited for it. Why? Because the author of the book is still running things. He's invested and motivated. That's a great thing for Clemson football and a bad thing for everyone else.
Going to be a fun offseason!

I think that, in the end, this "dose of humility" will do us good.
As for the coaching changes, I saw in another post that "success leads to succession." Very true. None of these guys moved down-- they all moved up. That's a good thing. I also believe it's a good thing for Clemson... things, especially on offense, had gotten stale and predictable. Fresh blood will be interesting.
We had 10 years worth of stability. Now, we're in a place that makes us nervous. I believe in Dabo. He built the team we saw from 2015-2020 basically from nothing. He has a much better place to build from now. Let's be patient, and prayerful!
Go Tigers!

I couldn't help but think of Gamecock Will saying, "I believe in Spurrier." on Walts show. That mashup was hilarious and I would love to hear it again.

If there’s something wrong at Clemson then Alabama must be a total disaster given the turnover there. Let’s see what Dabo does first before we panic. If we’re sitting here this time next year at 9-3 or 8-4, maybe I complain.

OP - I agree all the way! This is a new beginning of something great!
And, exactly right on with this attached post. Alabama has been dealing with transfers, early departures, and far more coaching turnover and is still in the hunt because they have their HC who is the architect of it all, to begin with.
No time for panic Tigers fans!

Great post , wish majority of others could see this … most too busy thinking they know what’s best for the program more than the guy with multiple titles … literally one win away from winning 10 games in a very down year … it’s one down year we will be fine lol

Absolutely. All of this is a product of the college football landscape today. The coaching carousel is unreal, and our coordinators were undoubtedly going to be head coaches in the near future. It just so happened that the stars aligned that it all happened in the same year. Same with The AD. Same thing happens to Bama nearly every year and nobody says they are in turmoil.
I am pretty excited about the future. I really think this will all ignite a new fire under Dabo to prove he can do it all over again without BV and Co. Many doubted him before and were proven wrong. My gut says that will happen again.

What the team seemed to lack was "Focused, Attention to
Dec 8, 2021, 9:09 PM

Little, but Important DETAILS" effort.
Things like proper blocking techniques.
Things like not holding on outside run or screen pass type plays.
Things like good footwork while throwing the ball, which GREATLY affects accuracy.
Things like actually CATCHING the ball before you take your eyes off it and try to run with it, when the ball IS on target.
Things like running crisp pass routes, so that you may actually be open so that your QB has someone to throw that on target pass to.
Things like listening in the huddle, getting the correct snap count, and then not moving UNTIL YOU HEAR IT, OR ACTUALLY SEE THE BALL GET SNAPPED!
Things like not firing into the neutral zone on defense UNTIL YOU SEE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN MOVE, OR THE BALL ACTUALLY GET SNAPPED!
A boxer once said, "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face." I am sure that we had plans this year, just as in previous years. Why the execution of those plans faltered so much when we figuratively got punched in the face this time around compared to past years is a puzzlement. Same coaches, same philosophies, but totally different on the field outcomes.
Well, total understatement to say things will be different next year. My faith in one Dabo Swinney tells me they will be better. But, till then, one game still to go. Then, downtime is going to seem even longer than normal, because it will be longer than our normal of the last six years.

The coaches spoke of the lack of execution
Dec 8, 2021, 9:26 PM

all year, and many here blew it off. Many reasons for it.
QB play not close to expectations. They went with the only guy they really had.
No continuity all year on OL and at WR due to injuries. A lot of pups got valuable experience, hopefully that reaps benefits. This year it led to great inconsistency.
Young, inexperienced guys screw up. We saw that in spades this year. And in spite of all of it, there wasn't one game we were out of or could not have won. That should more than anything speak to the ground the program is really on. In a Murphy's Law year, they hung together, battled, and did improve. They grew as players, and teammates.

This. And THIS was perhaps one of the best mid-season coaching jobs we have ever had. (See Mullen as a counter example). Coaches kept them focused and we got better. You had a lot young guys keep fighting. This is when champion prep-works is made.

Striperfan, you have done it again. I could not have said it better myself. One man built this house and his name is Dabo. If you tear it down he will only build it stronger again. We are in for a major upgrade in all positions lost except one and we come out even on that one. Relax and enjoy the ride on the bus. Dabo is up front.

I agree. It's just mind blowing it all came down at the same time after so many years of continuity. The decommit(s) and the portal upset me more. I do realize all schools with a lot of talent will suffer from the portal.

University educational costs have been in an inflationary spiral for years. It was recently reported that white males only represent 37% of college student population. Seems alot of these boys have already seen the light.
Now we are in the throws of a buy high, sell low mind set. Overpay everyone from AD'S to head coaches, to water boys. Free money abounds, old lessons have been ignored or forgotten.
Boosters seem flush with cash and bitcoin, and an 80K EV in every driveway. The economic cycles of history are being shunted aside. Maybe just maybe there is a free lunch.
Upstate has never been a place for everyone. A Clemson Man has always had to strive to attain that status. We have in place the firm foundation no matter the whirlwind that seems to surround us. Good men are moving on, that is a major positive not only for others but also for CU. Good men will remain and arrive anew.
