Who would you prefer as MBB coach?

Tates Locke — cheater Brad Brownell — loser
Both have been responsible for setting the Tiger program back into a state of disarray that will take years to build back up into a contender.

Right now I wouldn't much care about who they could hire as long as they were given the go ahead to play/recruit by the very same terms/rules everybody else is going with...

Math is hard for some but he has won almost 60% of his games so that’s not a loser. A loser is someone who makes up things to make his/her point

I think that he has been a loser in ACC play...
Maybe he has a losing record on Tuesday games with a 9:00 PM tip? Is this a limb you really want to climb out on to disparage our coach? In the old days, those with class supported the tram during the season and did their whining in the off season. That is still the case…

He's lost more games at Clemson than any other coach in our basketball history.

Why don't you ever pay attention

to who you respond to vs who you meant to respond to? It's enough already. That or make some sense for once.

Just because you don't understand does not mean it does not make sense. Perhaps you should ask for clarification as I would be glad to help you.

Hardaway would never leave Memphis where he played though.

Seems we have entered the phase of the process where the casual fan suggests names of coaches who would never take the job. The coots do the same thing with football. The only thing left is for some other moron suggests we “back up the brinks truck up to their door” as they don’t realize these coaches are already rich

There are certainly arguments to be made about whether Clemson should offer him the job, but I think Buckner would 1,000% take the job if Clemson offered.
There is a high variance of outcomes with that hire. It would either be a genius move or a colossal failure. I think he’d do an amazing job selling Clemson and his NBA experience as a player and coach to recruits. I think he loves this place every bit as much as everyone on this board does.
But do you fire Brownell to hire someone who has never been a head coach? That’s a tough move to make if you’re Neff.

Honestly I think this program just needs something to hope for and be excited about … I can’t speak for everyone but I think even at this point if BB wins one game and the tourney and is out I don’t think it would generate excitement… 14 years is a very long tenure to not be very successful and contrary to a couple BS posts from the same crowd, we do support basketball iv seen it and we do now. LJC used to be one of the tougher places to play in the country and has become silent mainly bc the excitement and hope is gone and will take a lot to get it back im afraid… i think like Bowden did for football with the facilities and getting us on the right track, BB is maybe responsible for some of that… but also like Bowden BB just may not be the guy to take the program to the next step. And before the ignorant posts about the history of Clemson basketball not a single Clemson fan iv ever talked basketball with expects us to win titles and be a top 5 or even top 10 program year in and year out … but we could and should expect to be in the tourney most years with an occasional run to maybe a sweet 16 especially with what the league has become.

I think if Clemson ever does make a move in the next couple of years a few obvious candidates would be Pat Kelsey at CofC, Mike Morrell at UNCA, and Mark Bington at James Madison, and last but not least Greg Buckner.
Morrell coaches at Clemson under Oliver Purnell and then joined Shaka Smart at VCU. He would try to bring the exciting brand of basketball at Clemson, and after a few years has built UNCA to a consistent winner in the Big South Conference.
Greg Buckner has a lot of NBA top coaching experience. I'm sure Rick Barnes would help a lot on how to succeed in the College game.
All 4 of those would be solid hires.

Byington is pretty much the same thing as Brownell — in fact I think he played for Brownell at UNCW when Brad was an assistant there under Jerry Wainwright.

Asheville is good largely because they have Drew Pember who is light years better than everyone they play in the Big South.

Tates brought the program into the world and leads a winning program now. No comparison in coaching ability as Tates could flat out coach.

Tates Locke's teams knew how to play D. Between the two, Brownell.
