Smitty, she's endemic of the professional political class that alienated the voters and led directly to our present scourge of populists intent on burning every American institution down. (Or "fake populists", as you claim, which I suppose is actually correct because MAGA loves to beat the anti-Establishment drum while at the same time further enriching and empowering billionaires who aspire to be full-on oligarchs.)
Pelosi's worth over $120 million, most of it in the classic Big Tech stocks - Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, CrowdStrike Holdings, and Amazon. And at the same time, she's allowed to pass (or kill!) major legislation regarding the very tech industry she owns a stake in. On paper she's sided with consumers and regulating Big Tech, the reality is, as Speaker she was directly instrumental in quiety stiff-arming and slow-walking Congressional attempts to reign in Big Tech, which helped it become the monster it is today.
Mind, she's hardly alone. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is worth as much as $768 million (he owns Direct Electronics), Rick Scott (R-FL) is worth $300+ million...almost all of which involves healthcare he personally regulated in Florida, Mark Warner (D-VA) is worth $215+ million...the list goes on and on. And it's not particularly partisan. Of the 10 richest members of Congress, six are Republicans and four are Dems.
Intriguingly, to give credit where credit is due, the best take I've ever seen on this glaring conflict of interest belongs to...(drum roll) Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Yes, really. AOC might indeed be a flaming Commie, but on this particular subject she was absolutely not wrong:

The attacker had no relation. He thought he was going to kidnap Nancy Pelosi. He thought she was part of a cabal of pedophiles that he was going to help expose. He said his mind was getting to him from things he was reading on the internet. His ex-girlfriend said he had lost his mind. He was committed in a mental institution for a bit.

Yeah if you're a random nobody in SF and some nut job breaks into your house and cracks your skull your assailant is unlikely to spend more than a few nights in prison. However when a member of the most protected class in America, rich leftists, gets attacked its 30 years. Privilege is seeing your attacker put away for decades for the same crime that gets a fraction of that sentence when committed against one of the poors.
