I shared this with a person in recovery. I hope they take it lightly for what it is worth. Nicotine may be the most addictive substance out there. I saw a patient today with lung CA, throat CA history, multiple peripheral vascular disease stents and bypasses, and stents in her coronary arteries … STILL SMOKING!

I am a drug and alcohol addiction counselor earning my doctorate (PsyD); I hear this story every day from addicts. I kid you not. They are either trading one addiction for another or justifying their intermittent abuse. Sadly, only about 5-7% succeed in overcoming addiction. It pretty ironic this comedy skit nails the addiction epidemic we face in America.

All that said, the clip is funny. Real life many times mirrors fiction.

Yea. I struggle with my addiction every day. I get up during the night to take a sip. I pour one in my favorite cup every morning. I have another at lunch and again at supper. It can get nerve-racking to be without one. I go to the store at least 4 times a week to get more. I get really depressed if I run out, and I ask my wife, children and friends to buy me some if they are getting me something for my birthday, fathers day or Christmas!

Oh by the way, Diet Dr Pepper is so gooooood!!
