Rewatched Gator Bowl 4Q

That last offensive drive was different. It’s been discussed many times here, but some things were important differences:
1) Up tempo. The offense clearly operated better with tempo.
2) Unrattled… mostly. Noticeably, CK2 got hit late OOB, and no call. Immediately got up, and completed a pass to Randall, who fought for a first down through three wildcats. Cade still threw up a Hail Mary ball OOB for a grounding penalty… gotta clean that up.
3) WRs fighting for the ball and making the catch.
The last 50 seconds of the game showed heart that seemed to be lacking for most of the season. 50 seconds left, on the 50. Need a 3rd and 18. Cade throws a money ball to AW0. Then a Mafah run. Then a dot to AW0. Then a dot to Brinningstool for 1st and goal. Mafah runs it straight at a Kentucky DE, lays him out, and crosses the goal line for a TD, assisted with Brinningstool pulling him across the line. And after getting torched for 200+ yards, our freshman secondary steps up, makes the play, and seals the game.
This team IS made of the right stuff. They play for each other—the Clemson way.

The last drive is what we all hope will be the beginning of good things to come...

Indeed, the last drive was impressive!
If 2024 season can start like that, then the confidence level will be high and this team can really get back to winning conference championships and playing for national titles. Either way, that was a beautiful drive against a worn out defense but still very nice to see.
Hoping Cade can get in stride with these receiver studs we have returning in AW & TB with additions of Wesco & Moore would be nice. Betancur will be a great add at TE, I'm thinking he plays from day 1 unless I'm missing something.
Go Tigers, beat those Dawgs!!

Starting Another Run

It wasn't quite 4th and 16 against LSU, but that drive was special and showed us a glimpse of our potential future. Here's to hoping that momentum turns into another run like 4th and 16 did.

Has been shown a few times when they play up tempo they move the ball. Hopefully they will do more of that this season as it doesn’t give the other team time to adjust. Line up and run it up the gut and then start passing to keep the other team guessing as to what might be coming at them. With some of these young players that now had a season under their belt I believe we can and will surprise the other teams. Looking forward to this coming season.

Yeah, I think that's what we all hope for.
Not to throw cold water on this post/thread, but Cade had some nice drives like that in quite a few games. Had a couple nice drives like that against unc and had a good one in the Tennessee game... hence the expectations for the season were through the roof.

Just need consistent decent OL blocking. Even mediocre WRs will get open if there is time.

We should thank kentucky for only rushing 3 on that last drive. If we can get other teams to do that in the future, we will be good

Yep prevent defense is a good way to get beat. It must work on occasion but dang if I ever see it.

I was pleasantly surprised they didn't flag Briningstool for helping Mafah over

the goal line. I never did understand why the rulz say its ok to push somebody ahead, but not ok to pull somebody ahead, anyway.

I have wondered that myself. Another football rule that makes no sense. In watching kickoffs this weekend I was thinking of another rule change, in the spirit of saving time, spot the ball at the 25 instead of wasting everyone’s time kicking off. Rarely see an onside kick and most can kick it through the end zone, which was the intention with the rule change. Sure took the fun out of the kickoff.

As in a few other instances this past year Klubnik showed better in the hurry up offense as opposed to a slower pace. Maybe as he improves (as well as the oline) things can only get better but it previously looked to be a case of "you think long then you play wrong". I think the last Drive in the Gator Bowl showed potential that will carry over for next year. Go Tigers.

One odd thing I noticed during the game occurred two drives before the last drive. We made a few converstions and one was for 17 yards or so. The clock never stopped to move the chains. It happened 2x and about 50 seconds total ran off the clock and they didn't reset the clock. I know several rules have changed over the last few years such as clock stopping the last two minutes etc.... As I watched several other ball games, the clock stopped to re-set the chains. I was beginning to think it was me but, after watching the other bowl games, the clock did stop to set the chains. Anyone else see this or can you correct what I thought I saw?

Fully agree.
I like the 2024 roster. If OL plays well we’ll have a great team.
